The 2017 AGM featured guest speakers Andrew Nikiforuk (Canadian journalist and investigative author), Ernie Sellentin (Provincial Green Party candidate for Courtenay-Comox) and Sue Moen (Provincial Green Party candidate for North Island – Powell River).
CEO Leroy McFarlane and Assistant CEO Jonathan Kerr gave a presentation highlighting the work of the EDA in the past year. Some of the achievements included having a table at the Lake Trail Earth Day event, creating recycling stations at the Campbell River Canada Day event, and hosting David Suzuki and Elizabeth May at the Campbell River Maritime Heritage Centre.
Forty-two supporters showed up at the Dove Creek Community hall in Courtenay Area C for the election of the new Electoral District Association and the informative speakers. New members signed up and generous donations were given to cover the cost of the event.
